Mary Jo received a master’s degree in community and regional planning from North Dakota State University. She worked at the Fargo-Moorhead Council of Governments on transportation and housing issues before moving to Washington DC where she worked in the United States Senate for
11 years. While in the Senate Mary Jo was a professional staff member on the Environment and Public Affairs Committee and the Select Committee on Indian Affairs. In 1994 she began her work at FEMA in the congressional affairs office. And in 2003 she became the project manager for the NFIP’s FloodSmart marketing campaign. Mary Jo lives with her husband in Chevy Chase, MD.
