This report was developed for FEMA’s Building Science Branch by numerous national, regional, state, and private sector subject matter experts deployed to affected areas in Florida. The team assessed the performance of coastal and inland residential properties, critical facilities, municipal and public buildings, seawalls, and hurricane evacuation shelters. The results include almost 70 recommendations for actions that federal, state, local and private stakeholders can take to help reduce injuries and mitigate building damage from future natural hazard events in Florida and elsewhere.
