The countdown was on, it was only a few weeks until the Florida Floodplain Managers Association’s 2020 Annual Conference in Orlando, and suddenly, we were all in the middle of a worldwide pandemic.  With National and State Stay-At-Home-Orders in place, our creative group of Board members and staff worked tirelessly transitioning the in-person conference into a successful virtual conference for April 7-11, even along with a clever spin on the theme: 2020 Working UNI-VIRTUAL-LY To Stop Flooding.  There were 367 attendees, 23 presenters and 18 sponsors.

ffma2020-screenshotWith the ‘new normal’ of travel and hospitality restrictions remaining in place, the Association of State Floodplain Managers held their conference virtually on June 9-11.  Pictured is our very own Del Schwalls, P.E., CFM and Manny Perotin, PE, PMP, CFM, with CDM Smith and fellow FFMA member.  Del was moderating the ASFPM Session: Building Science and Floodproofing.  Manny presented “Giving multi-family buildings a new lease on life from Flooding.”  (Check out Manny’s shirt!)
