The countdown was on, it was only a few weeks until the Florida Floodplain Managers Association’s 2020 Annual Conference in Orlando, and suddenly, we were all in the middle of a worldwide pandemic. With National and State Stay-At-Home-Orders in place, our creative group of Board members and staff worked tirelessly transitioning the in-person conference into a successful virtual conference for April 7-11, even along with a clever spin on the theme: 2020 Working UNI-VIRTUAL-LY To Stop Flooding. There were 367 attendees, 23 presenters and 18 sponsors.
With the ‘new normal’ of travel and hospitality restrictions remaining in place, the Association of State Floodplain Managers held their conference virtually on June 9-11. Pictured is our very own Del Schwalls, P.E., CFM and Manny Perotin, PE, PMP, CFM, with CDM Smith and fellow FFMA member. Del was moderating the ASFPM Session: Building Science and Floodproofing. Manny presented “Giving multi-family buildings a new lease on life from Flooding.” (Check out Manny’s shirt!)
