On August 20th, Manatee County celebrated Sally Cook, FFMA’s Associate Education Director, winning the John Ivey Award for Excellence in Certification at the 2019 ASFPM Conference. The Manatee County Board of Commissioners heard glowing remarks about Sally from John Barnott, Director of Building & Development Services; CJ Dupre, Building Official; Sandy Tudor, Floodplain Section Manager, along with Josh Overmyer, FFMA Secretary, providing background information on FFMA winning this award in 2015 thanks to Sally’s leadership of the Education Committee, as well as in 2019 for Sally’s continued individual efforts.
Three of the seven County Commissioners also spoke of their appreciation for the work Sally does for the residents of Manatee County, and the dedication she shows in educating residents and fellow floodplain managers.
